New: Subscribe to Cal Poly News RSS Feeds

SAN LUIS OBISPO -- The Cal Poly News Web has something new: an RSS feed.

What is an RSS feed? RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication." It's a way to receive the latest news headlines from Cal Poly, without having to navigate to the Cal Poly News Web every morning.

If you use Mozilla/Firefox or Internet Explorer 7.0 as your Internet Browser, you can click on the orange button RSS button here or on the Cal Poly News Web home page (www.calpolynews.calpoly.edu) to see what the feed looks like.

The Cal Poly News RSS feed is updated weekdays with the most recent news headlines from the Cal Poly News Web. Subscribe today!

How do you subscribe to the Cal Poly News RSS Feed?

First, your computer needs a program that will collect and read RSS feeds. Some search engines, like MyYahoo!, now allow users to create their own personal page, and see RSS headlines from their favorite web sites, all in one place.

Or, you can download a free RSS feed reader, which will allow you to pick how, where and when you want to receive your RSS headlines.

Some RSS readers will send headlines to your e-mail basket. Others will create a pop-up window on your desktop where your RSS headline feeds will be displayed, and new headlines will appear as they are posted.
