Earth Sciences Professor Receives International Educator Award
SAN LUIS OBISPO – Professor Delmar D. Dingus of the Earth and Soil Sciences Department in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences has received the 2006 Cal Poly International Educator Award.
Professor Dingus was recognized at the International Education keynote address, Thursday, Nov. 16. The annual honor, sponsored by International Education and Programs, recognizes a faculty member who has significantly contributed to international education at Cal Poly.
Dingus’ wide-ranging efforts include coordinating the International Agriculture Development Graduate Program, co-producing a video entitled “World Population and the Food Supply,” establishing international exchange programs, and hosting international faculty and students. He is a member of Phi Beta Delta, an honor society dedicated to recognizing scholarly achievements in international education.
He has received the Outstanding Service Award from Petoseed, the hybrid vegetable seed company, for his work as advisor to the International Agricultural Development Club and as founder of the International Agricultural Development Endowment.
International Education & Programs is the principal resource center for international education at Cal Poly. It expands opportunities for international education for both international students studying at the university and university students who wish to study abroad.
