Fiddling Alaskan Poet and Ace Musical Troupe Play the Spanos Theatre

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CALIFORNIA –   When Ken Waldman, Alaska’s “Fiddling Poet,” comes to the Alex & Faye Spanos Theatre on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 3 p.m., he'll have a number of stellar musicians joining him.  Written especially for Cal Poly Arts, Waldman’s original show, “FROM CAL POLY TO KODIAK” is an afternoon of variety that promises a full-blown SLO music party/mini-festival – complete with clogging! – connecting the grandeur of the Central Coast with that of Alaska.

Hailed as “a one-man Prairie Home Companion,” Waldman and his musical guests combine traditional Appalachian-style fiddling with Waldman’s original poetry and Alaska-based storytelling.  Waldman will be joined by West Coast old-time music trio, The Brainstormers, featuring Tom Sauber, Patrick Sauber, and Mark Graham; by Bay Area singer, guitarist, and fiddler, Ray Bierl; and by Bay Area duo, Evie Ladin and Keith Terry.

Student and adult tickets for the performance are $22 to $28 and may be purchased at the Performing Arts Center Ticket Office, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
