Cal Poly Makes Forbes Best Colleges List for Fourth Straight Year

SAN LUIS OBISPO – For the fourth year in a row, Cal Poly ranks on the Forbes magazine list of the country’s best colleges and universities

Cal Poly ranks No. 9 among California’s public universities and, just as last year, is the top-ranked California State University campus on the list.

Cal Poly appears at No. 28 among the 50 private and public universities and at No. 230 overall among the 610 U.S. campuses on the list.

It is the fourth year Forbes has produced the list, with Cal Poly appearing each year.

“Cal Poly continues to focus on hands-on learning and providing students with the well-rounded education that prepares them to be whole-system thinkers and leaders in their careers,” said Cal Poly President Jeffrey D. Armstrong. “So while it’s an honor to yet again appear on this prestigious list, it’s really not a surprise. We are one of the nation’s few truly comprehensive polytechnic universities, producing resourceful and innovative professionals who make a difference in the world.”

The rankings focus on matters of direct concern to undergraduate students, such as: interesting courses, speed of graduation, job prospects afterward, and how much debt students rack up during their studies. The magazine used students’ evaluations of courses and instructors, post-graduate success, estimated average student debt after graduation and graduation rates among its measurements.
