Cal Poly’s Pride Center Hosts Pride Prom: ‘Studio 54’ on May 15

SAN LUIS OBISPO — Cal Poly’s Pride Center will host a Pride Week Prom titled ‘Studio 54’ for Cal Poly students and their friends May 15 as a part of Pride Week.

The Pride Center aims to educate people about the issues facing the local Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender and Questioning community. The annual Pride Week celebrates the diversity and the commonalities within the LGBTQ community and brings visibility to LGBTQ people and issues in order to create a welcoming environment on campus for all students regardless of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

The Pride Center is working with a group of four Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration students to plan the fourth annual Pride Prom. This year’s prom, “Studio 54” will be held from 9 p.m. to1 a.m. in the University Union’s Chumash Auditorium. “Studio 54” will feature DJ Mikey Lion and will be include a photo area and photographer. Admission is $10 at the door, and there will be no presale of tickets. Attendees must bring a Cal Poly ID or accompany a Cal Poly student.
