Cal Poly Engineering Dean Elected to ASEE Dean’s Leadership Council

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Mohammad Noori, dean of Cal Poly’s College of Engineering, has been elected to serve on the American Society of Engineering Education’s (ASEE) Engineering Deans Council Executive Board.

Noori’s two-year term commences June 23 at the ASEE Annual Conference and Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky.

The ASEE Engineering Deans Council is the leadership body for deans of engineering at U.S. colleges. It is responsible for representing the engineering colleges and schools in the administration of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology Inc. (ABET) and in facilitating the exchange of information and discussion of public policy matters among engineering institutions.

“The board represents close to 400 colleges of engineering and is the voice of the engineering community,” says Noori. “I am honored to serve on this important body.”

Noori joined Cal Poly as dean of the College of Engineering in 2005. A civil engineer by trade, he is a recognized researcher in the field of earthquake engineering and structural safety and damage detection.

Noori previously held the endowed R.J. Reynolds Professorship at North Carolina State University. While there, he served on the multi-university team that prepared the winning proposal founding the National Institute of Aerospace, a partnership of six universities, the NASA Langley Research Center, and American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Foundation.
