Cal Poly to Present Faculty Bass Recital on April 10
SAN LUIS OBISPO - Cal Poly Music Department faculty member and string bassist Ken Hustad will present a recital with several other faculty members at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 10, in the Davidson Music Center, Room 218.
The recital will feature:
- Jeanne Shumway, cello
• "Duetto for Double Bass and Cello" by Gioachino Rossini
- Paul Severtson, viola
• "Suite for Viola and Double Bass" by Reinhold Glière
- W. Terrence Spiller, piano
• "Arpeggione" Sonata (Allegro moderato) by Franz Schubert
- Jacalyn Kreitzer, mezzo-soprano
• "Cat and Mouse: Jazz Songs for Soprano and Double Bass" by Betty Roe
In addition to teaching bass at Cal Poly and Cuesta College, Hustad is an active performer in classical, jazz and commercial groups, as well as a studio musician. He is co-principal bassist with the San Luis Obispo Symphony Orchestra, a member of the Festival Mozaic Orchestra and Tolosa Strings, and is the low-strings coach for the San Luis Obispo Youth Symphony.
Admission at the door will be $5 for the public and $2 for seniors and students.
