Cal Poly Architecture Professor Thomas Fowler
Receives National Recognition

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Thomas Fowler IV, a professor in the Cal Poly Architecture Department, is the recipient of the 2009-10 Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) Creative Achievement Award.

Fowler was recognized for his development of the Collaborative Integrative-Interdisciplinary Digital-Design Studio. This studio infuses creativity into collaborative student teamwork and interweaves scholarship with academia and professional development with research and service at local and national levels.

ACSA annually honors a specific creative achievement in teaching, design, scholarship, research or service that advances architectural education. Since the program began in 1997, approximately 1,500 students from 11 disciplines have developed more than 80 projects with in-kind donations from faculty and industry professionals.

The award will be presented at the ACSA Annual Meeting on March 5 in New Orleans.
