Cal Poly to Host Mystic and Feminist Author Heather Mendel Feb. 18

SAN LUIS OBISPO - The Religious Studies program will feature local author, Jewish mystic and theologian Heather Mendel Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. in Philips Hall in the Performing Arts Center.

The authorwill share her attempts to synthesize Judaism, feminism and spirituality in the search for God in a quantum age, as presented in her new book “Dancing in The Footsteps of Eve: retrieving the healing gift of the sacred feminine for the human family through myth and mysticism.” A reception and book-signing will follow.

Mendel will discuss her interpretation of the mythic Eve in what the author describes as a heroic reach for the forbidden fruit and the implication of this interpretation in modern times. Mendel believes that such a rich reading of the text can empower women, men, and the global family.
