Cal Poly’s Take It SLO Presents A Cappella Collaboration Concerts May 7

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Take It SLO, Cal Poly’s a cappella ensemble, will host two a cappella collaboration concerts Friday, May 7, at 6 p.m and 8:30 p.m. in Room 218 of the Davidson Music Center on campus.

Take It SLO will perform with special guest ensemble, Fermata Nowhere.

Fermata Nowhere hails from Mt. San Antonio College, a community college in Walnut, Calif. The award-winning, 14-member, all-male a cappella group has performed across the country. From Latin motets to Ben Folds to Lady Gaga, the group's members say they work tirelessly in their search for musical excellence.

Take It SLO is a 15-member vocal ensemble that performs works arranged by the students themselves. The group has received statewide recognition in recent years and competed in February the 2010 International Championship of College A Cappella (ICCA) quarterfinal competition at UC Berkeley.

Tickets to the concert are $5 and can be purchased at the door the evening of the show. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. for the respective concerts.

The events are sponsored by the Cal Poly Music Department and College of Liberal Arts. For more information call Amy Lebetsamer at 310-977-9019, visit www.takeitslo.com, e-mail takeitslo@gmail.com, or call the Music Department at 805-756-2406.
