Constitution Day Coming to Cal Poly Oct. 22

SAN LUIS OBISPO - Cal Poly's College of Liberal Arts is sponsoring an event to honor Constitution Day, Thursday, Oct. 22 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the lobby of the Christopher Cohan Performing Arts Center.

The event includes a lecture by author Sonu Bedi who challenges the concept of rights. Bedi argues that the concept jeopardizes liberty and undermines democratic debate. A constitutional scholar, Bedi uses constitutional law and political theory to rethink the relationship between liberty and democracy.

Day use parking permits are required for all guests parking on campus and are available for purchase at the Grand Avenue kiosk.

The federal government recognizes Sept. 17 as Constitution Day. Because Sept. 17 occured before fall quarter began in 2009 at Cal Poly, the event was set for Oct. 22.
