Cal Poly AmeriCorps Program Recruiting Members for 2010

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Cal Poly’s Central Coast Volunteer Corps AmeriCorps program is recruiting full- and part-time members for the coming year.

Central Coast Volunteer Corps members serve at local nonprofit agencies and receive a monthly living allowance. Members gain marketable skills and receive specialized training and professional development opportunities.

The term of service is Jan. 1 to Oct. 31, 2010.

Full-time members serve 1,700 hours and receive health insurance, childcare reimbursement and a $4,725 Education Award upon successful completion of the program. Part-time members serve 900 hours and receive a $2,362 Education Award upon successful completion. Both part-time and full-time members are eligible for loan forbearance.

Potential placement sites include: Senior Nutrition, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Non-Profit Support Center, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Transitions – Mental Health Association, Independent Living Program (ILP), and the Sexual Assault Recovery and Prevention (SARP) Center.
