Cal Poly Grad Student Honored by the
Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute
SAN LUIS OBISPO – Cal Poly graduate student Ulises Gonzalez has been chosen to receive the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s Graduate Young Professional Fellowship in Housing Policy.
One of 20 chosen nationally for the honor, Gonzalez will spend nine months in Washington, D.C. assigned to a congressional and then a federal agency.
Gonzalez will receive a master’s degree in city and regional planning this June.
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) has offered fellowships for more than 20 years. The fellowship program seeks to enhance participants' leadership abilities, strengthen professional skills and ultimately produce more competent and competitive Latino professionals in the underserved public policy areas of health, housing, international affairs and law, along with science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
CHCI is one of the leading Hispanic nonprofit and nonpartisan organizations in the country. It was established in 1978 to help increase opportunities for Hispanics to participate in and contribute to the American policy making process.
