President Baker's Message to Campus
about Student Charles Tamae
Cal Poly President Warren J. Baker sent an e-mail to all Cal Poly students, faculty, and staff Friday afternoon about student Charles Tamae. The message:
Dear Cal Poly Students, Faculty and Staff:
Sadly, I'm writing to report that the body of missing Cal Poly student Charles Tamae was found this afternoon on Cerro San Luis (Madonna Mountain). Police do not believe there was foul play and are continuing to investigate. An autopsy will be performed in due course as part of the investigation.
We are contacting Charles' parents to extend the University's condolences and to offer assistance.
The Office of Student Life and Leadership is planning a memorial service for Charles at 7:30 p.m. Monday Dec. 7 in Chumash Auditorium. Pastor Jana Scofield from Mt. Carmel Lutheran will lead the service.
Please remember that Cal Poly provides excellent counseling services through our Student Health Center. Please don't hestitate to avail yourself of those services.
In the meantime, please keep the Tamae family in your thoughts as they deal with their grief.
Warren J. Baker
President
