Aerospace Executive to Speak on ‘Managing Your Own Career’
Oct. 29 at Cal Poly
SAN LUIS OBISPO – Aerospace executive Cheryl O’Leary will speak on “Managing Your Own Career” at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 29, in the Pavilion at the Performing Arts Center. O’Leary’s seminar is part of the Distinguished Speaker Series presented by Cal Poly’s Orfalea College of Business. The event is free and open to the public.
O’Leary has been trailblazing a path for women since she started at Lockheed Martin in 1965. More than 40 years later, O’Leary is vice president and Palmdale site general manager. She mentors emerging industry leaders and is the executive director for the aeronautics’ women’s affinity groups.
O’Leary served as vice president for Advance Development Programs, responsible for developing fledgling programs and transitioning them to successful industry initiatives. She had overall responsibility for Lockheed’s F-117 Nighthawk, program including development, integration and performance-based logistics support for the U.S. Air Force.
Recently O’Leary received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Women in Aerospace organization for 43 years of leadership and achievement on various classified programs critical to the nation’s defense.
