Cal Poly Symphony Fall Concert to Feature Russian Masterworks Nov. 16
SAN LUIS OBISPO – Pianist W. Terrence Spiller will perform Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto as the featured soloist at the Cal Poly Symphony Fall Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, in Harman Hall in the Performing Arts Center’s Christopher Cohan Center.
This concert of Russian music kicks off the Cal Poly Symphony’s new season and is the first stop on a musical tour around the world. Rachmaninoff’s concerto is hailed as a tour de force that has thrilled audiences since its premiere in 190l.
In addition, the Cal Poly Symphony will play Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition,” a work originally written for solo piano and later orchestrated by Maurice Ravel.
Tickets for the concert are $6 for students, $8 and $10 for senior citizens, and $10 and $12 for the public. They are on sale at the Performing Arts Ticket Office 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. To order by phone, call SLO-ARTS (756-2787).
