Cal Poly Students Celebrate Native American Heritage Month

SAN LUIS OBISPO - Cal Poly's MultiCultural Center and Student Life and Leadership will present several events in celebration of Native American Heritage Month in November.

All of the events are free and open to the public. Events include:
. Celebrating Chumash Culture, featuring local storyteller Alan Salazar from the Chumash tribe. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the San Luis Lounge (Room 221) in the University Union;
. A lecture on Native American topics by Ines Talamantez, professor of anthropology, linguistics and comparative literature at UC Santa Barbara. Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Agricultural Engineering Building, Room 113; and
. A screening of "Imprint," winner of several awards at the 2007 American Indian Film Festival. Thursday, Nov. 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Science Building, Room E27. A discussion will follow the film, and refreshments will be served.
