Cal Poly Expects 10,000 on Campus for Homecoming Saturday

SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Cal Poly is celebrating its 101st Homecoming Saturday, and expecting 10,000 people to fill Alex G. Spanos Stadium to watch the Mustangs take on North Carolina Central Eagles. Tickets are still available, but the game is expected to sell out before kickoff.

Football tickets are on sale through 10 p.m. Friday night at the Cal Poly Athletics ticket Office, 756-5806. Any remaining tickets will go on sale at the stadium box office beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Cal Poly is expecting some 3,500 alumni, visitors, and community members at the annual Tailgate BBQ and Cal Poly Alumni Association Wine Tasting on the O’Neill Green next to the stadium Saturday. The barbecue is sold out.

Cal Poly’s century-old Homecoming tradition welcomes alumni and friends back to campus each fall to join students, faculty and staff for celebrations and the Homecoming football game. The university is scheduled to honor eight alumni Friday night at its Honored Alumni Banquet, and hold a tour and reunion for the Class of 1958.
