Cal Poly Brass Choir, Wind Dectet
To Perform May 20 at United Methodist Church
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- The Cal Poly Brass Choir and the Wind Dectet, featuring some the university’s top wind, brass and percussion players, will perform at 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at the San Luis Obispo United Methodist Church.
The concert, tilted “All That Brass (and More!)” will include a movement from Eric Ewazen’s Symphony in Brass, currently heard on National Public Radio’s election coverage.
The Cal Poly Wind Dectet will perform Antonin Dvorak’s “Czech Suite,” based on Czech folk tunes and dances. Adam Brover, Cal Poly’s principal Wind Ensemble euphonium player, will be featured on an arrangement of the Irish traditional song “Londonderry Air.”
Also appearing in concert will be Cal Poly’s Trombone Choir, under the direction of Roy Main.
Additional highlights include “Fanfare” by Paul Dukas, “Fire Dance” by Anthony DiLorenzo, and the jazz standard “How High the Moon.”
Admission to the concert is free and open to the public. The concert will be held in the newly completed sanctuary of the San Luis Obispo United Methodist Church at 1515 Fredericks Street.
