MEDIA ADVISORY – PHOTO/VIDEO OPPORTUNITY

Cal Poly Students ‘Learn by Moving’ 25-Ton Tree Wednesday

WHAT: Cal Poly Students will work with Valley Crest professionals and heavy construction equipment to transplant a 25-ton Coral Tree.

WHEN: Wednesday, March 5, 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

WHERE: Cal Poly Environmental Horticultural Science Unit/Cal Poly Leaning Pine Arboretum.

(Take Highway One to the Highland Drive entrance to campus; turn left on Via Carta. EHS unit is at the west end of Via Carta.)

WHY: The 25-ton Coral tree has outgrown its surroundings. Valley Crest landscape company will be on campus with its equipment to show Cal Poly Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, and EHS students how to successfully relocate the huge tree.

SCHEDULE: 10 a.m.-10:30 a.m., tree moving. 11 a.m. – noon, tours of Leaning Pine Arboretum. Cal Poly professors and students and Valley Crest officials will be on hand for interviews.
