Cal Poly, SLO PD Organizing Neighborhood Block Parties Sept. 28
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- The City of San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly are sponsoring the first ever SLO Night with Your Neighbors Friday, Sept. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Participants are hosting neighborhood potlucks at 40 locations throughout the city that evening as a way for students and long-term residents to get to know each other, and start the year off on a positive footing.
“We estimate there will be approximately 1,200 residents attending,” said San Luis Obispo Police Department Neighborhood Services Manager Ardith Tregenza.
The program is collaboration between the City of San Luis Obispo, Cal Poly, and Associated Students Inc.
“We hope the event will encourage students and long-term residents to interact in a positive social setting in their neighborhoods,” said Brandon Souza, president of Cal Poly’s Associated Students, Inc.
To host a party and receive a party supply pack, register online at www.sloneighbors.com. The party supply packet will include invitations for the neighborhood as well as a yard sign and gift bags for guests.
To become a sponsor, download a Sponsor Opportunities form at www.sloneighbors.com. Sponsorship levels cover both cash and gift-in-kind donations.
Anyone who attends a neighborhood event will receive a gift bag with information about various city services as well as sponsor information, coupons and gifts.
For more information, contact Tregenza at 805-781-7186, or atregenz@slocity.org.
