Cal Poly to Offer MCAT Review Course for Med School Hopefuls
SAN LUIS OBISPO – Cal Poly Continuing Education and University Outreach is offering a Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) review course, designed to provide the information necessary for success on the examination. The review concludes before the spring MCAT test date.
The course, NCR 9354, consists of 24 meetings from Jan. 8 through April 10, 2008. The sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 p.m., on the Cal Poly Campus.
Online registration fee is $1,245 before Dec. 22 and $1,295 after Dec. 22. By phone, fax or in person the fee is $1,265 before Dec. 22 and $1,305 after Dec. 22. The fee includes text and materials.
Led by Michael Black, assistant professor in Cal Poly’s Biological Sciences department, the course includes practice examinations provided by the American Association of Medical Colleges. Faculty from chemistry, physics and biology will lead reviews of the content, format and structure of the examination.
The review includes the following sessions:
- Biology – five
- General chemistry - five
- Organic chemistry – five
- Physics – five
- Verbal reasoning – three
- Strategy and critical thinking – one
