Inventor of Quickie Wheelchair and Honored Alum Marilyn Hamilton to Speak at Cal Poly Nov. 9
SAN LUIS OBISPO – Best known for inventing the Quickie wheelchair, Cal Poly Honored Alum Marilyn Hamilton will offer a free, public presentation on Friday, Nov. 9, 1 to 2:30 p.m. in University Union, Room 220.
Entrepreneur, inventor and athlete, Hamilton turned a personal crisis into an opportunity that changed the lives of the disabled and revolutionized an industry. In her quest for independence after a hang gliding accident, she pioneered the ultra-mobile Quickie wheelchair, went on to play competitive sports, and created a company, Motion Designs, that became an American and international success story.
Hamilton will talk about her personal journey—how she challenged preconceptions and her own physical limits to become a global entrepreneur and an advocate for health care reform.
Parking is available in the Grand Avenue structure and costs $6. For more information, contact Carol Pendergast, College of Education, at 756-5330 or cpenderg@calpoly.edu.
