Elizabeth Kucinich Speaks on Campus Nov. 13
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Humanitarian and environmentalist Elizabeth Kucinich spoke at Cal Poly on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
The public event at the Alex and Faye Spanos Theatre was sponsored by the Cal Poly College Democrats Club and Student Life and Leadership. Students were admitted free; the general public was charged $5.
The event was a benefit for Cal Poly’s Alternative Spring Breaks, a program encouraging students to spend spring break working in community service projects.
"I started lobbying Parliament when I was 12, and Dennis was elected to Congress at age 25," Kucinich told the crowd. "When you take a stand, no matter how young or old you are, you can make a difference."
Kucinich, wife of Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich, spoke on a range of topics including sustainable solutions for living the “American Dream,” environmental justice and the importance of Generation Y’s involvement in current social and political issues.
