New Book by Cal Poly Education Professor a 'Must-Read' for School Administrators
SAN LUIS OBISPO - A new book coauthored by Cal Poly College of Education Professor George J. Petersen helps fill the void in effective communication and public relations for school administrators.
"Effective Communication for School Administrators: A Necessity in an Information Age," published by Rowan and Littlefield, is the first of its kind for incoming and current school superintendents and principals.
"Teachers, students, parents, and communities have new expectations about the way they receive information," Petersen said. "Though communication has been identified as an essential area of practice, the discipline has largely been ignored in the study of school administration."
The three authors of "Effective Communication for School Administrators: A Necessity in an Information Age" blend research, theory, and practice as they examine the critical nature of communication for administrators.
The book examines relationships among communication, public relations, and school reform, and addresses effective communicative behavior in relation to learning organization, democratic leadership, organizational networks, conflict, positive relationships, and site-based management.
