'Take It SLO' with A Cappella Group Spring Concert June 9
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Cal Poly's award-winning Take It SLO ensemble will present a review of many contemporary a cappella arrangements at its second annual Spring Concert at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 9th, in Cal Poly's Chumash Auditorium.
The 14-member ensemble will perform a wide variety of songs, all arranged by the students themselves, including the popular hit "Survivor" by Destiny's Child, "My Hero" by the Foo Fighters, "Put Your Records On," by Corrinne Bailey Rae, and a Beach Boys medley.
Take It SLO has received statewide recognition over the past few years. The ensemble has participated in the California A Cappella Festival at UCLA and recently won third place at the West Coast International Competition of Collegiate A Cappella.
The group is comprised of students from a variety of majors on campus and is managed by business major Nicolle MacDonald.
Tickets to the concert are $5 and can be bought at the door the afternoon of the concert. Proceeds will go toward the recording of a compact disc.
The Take It SLO concert is sponsored by the Cal Poly Music Department and College of Liberal Arts. For more information, call Nicolle MacDonald at 530-906-9384, visit www.takeitslo.com, e-mail takeitslo@gmail.com, or call the Music Department at 756-2406.
