Construction Sciences Forum to Focus on ‘Building Information Modeling’ April 10-11

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Cal Poly's 10th annual Construction Sciences Forum will focus on “Building Information Modeling” and its integration in the construction industry.

The forum, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, April 10-11, is sponsored by the Construction Specifications Institute Club of the College of Architecture and Environmental Design. All events are open to the public.

The forum begins at 6 p.m. April 10 in the Berg Gallery, Room 105, in the Architecture Building with a keynote address, “How BIM Technology is Changing Design and Construction." Speaker Dennis Hall, an architect with Martinez and Cutri Architects in San Diego, will discuss the use of BIM as the primary design and production platform.

Following the keynote address, winners of a student design competition will be announced. Entries will be on display from 1 to 5 p.m. on Dexter Lawn.

On April 11, at 11 a.m. through 4 p.m. the forum will feature a product show in Berg Gallery followed by a roundtable discussion at 7:30 p.m. A barbecue dinner will be held at 6 p.m. on the patio adjacent to Berg Gallery. Students who attend the keynote address and the product show will be eligible to dunk CAED faculty in a tank and win prizes at a gathering on Dexter Lawn from noon to 4 p.m.

Tickets for the barbecue are $30 for professionals and faculty members, and $6 for student members. They may be purchased prior to the event in the Architecture Building stair court or at the door.
