Cal Poly Arts Announces 2007-2008 Season Performances
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- 'Weird Al,' Altan, Cirque-Works, the Shaolin Warriors, blues legend Mavis Staples and a full slate of classical and pop concerts plus comedy and theater performances are on the lineup for Cal Poly Arts 2007-2008 season performances, announced Friday, June 15.
Orders for subscription tickets for the new 2007-08 Cal Poly Arts performing arts season will be on sale available to new subscribers at the Performing Arts Center Ticket Office as of June 23, 2007.
"Cal Poly Arts presents popular performing artists across a wide range of genres, with a particular emphasis this season on comedy and lighthearted events, such as major Broadway show tours, more Gilbert & Sullivan, two evenings of stand-up comedy, and some exciting new pop singers/cabaret stars," said Cal Poly Arts Interim Director Peter Wilt.
"We also offer great evenings of world music and dance, opera, contemporary dance companies, and classical music – including the Forbes Pipe Organ Recital Series and Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra. There's something for every fan of live entertainment.”
Patrons need only order four or more events to qualify as a subscriber and receive priority seating, substantial season ticket discounts, and advance notification of added events throughout the year. 2007-08 subscribers receive an early purchase privilege to the Billy Joel/Twyla Tharp Broadway musical, “Movin’ Out.”
Single tickets go on sale to the public September 4, 2007.
The Cal Poly Arts full-color 2007-08 brochure, available from the Performing Arts Center Ticket Office, describes over 40 diverse events presented at the Christopher Cohan Center and the Alex and Faye Spanos Theatre. (See attached brochure PDF)
