Annual Cal Poly Poinsettia Sale Starts Nov. 27

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Cal Poly's annual poinsettia sale, featuring more than 2,500 plants in 29 different varieties and several colors, begins Nov. 27 at the Poly Plant Shop and continues through mid-December.

The plants are grown by students involved in the university's Poinsettia Agriculture Enterprise Project, which begins in the spring of every year. This year's poinsettia project offers an assortment of reds, whites, pinks, and other novelty varieties such as Jingle Bells and Marbles. Plant sizes range from a few inches to four feet tall. Offerings include traditional, centerpiece, and tree-shaped forms. Prices range from $6 to $60.

The poinsettias will be available for sale at the Poly Plant Shop starting the week of Nov. 27 with early bloomers. The plants should be in full bloom the week of Dec. 4.

This year, students are offering a selection of poinsettias painted with glitter and non-traditional colors. Orders for custom-painted plants may be placed after Dec. 1.

Cal Poly Poinsettias will be available during Poly Plant Shop holiday festivities including music and refreshments the first two weekends of December.

The Poly Plant Shop’s annual open house will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1. The poinsettia project students will host holiday open house sales from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8-9.

The Poly Plant Shop is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. To get to the shop, take the Highland Drive entrance to Cal Poly's Campus and turn left onto Via Carta. The shop is at the top of the hill on the right, and metered parking is available.  For details, contact the shop at 756-1106.
