College of Engineering Announces First Corporate Member of Project Based Learning Institute

SAN LUIS OBISPO – With the opening of the Bonderson Projects Center on Nov. 2, Cal Poly’s Project Based Learning Institute found an official “home” just in time to receive its first corporate member, the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base.

As a corporate partner, the Flight Test Center may propose topics for three senior design projects per year involving five or more students in a team environment. Other membership benefits include a 30-hour block of research time from a Cal Poly faculty member, recruitment access, ability to rent research space at the Bonderson Projects Center for conducting student-assisted research, and more.

Professor Zahed Sheikh, who oversees the PBLI said he is looking forward to collaborating with the Flight Test Center as an inaugural member. “They have been a great partner with the College of Engineering, and have already sponsored our Aircraft Design Lab and provided many other kinds of support. We look forward to deepening this rich and mutually fruitful collaboration.”
