Cal Poly Student Awarded National Landscape Architecture Scholarship

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Cal Poly Landscape Architecture student Sahoko Yui was awarded this year’s American Society of Landscape Architecture Council of Fellows’ scholarship for promising students of landscape architecture.

Yui will receive $4,000, a one-year student ASLA membership, general registration fees for the ASLA annual meeting to be held in Minneapolis this October, and a travel stipend to attend the meeting, where she will formally receive her award. Yui was one of only two students among all United States landscape architect students to receive the award this year.

The ASLA Council of Fellows was established in 2004 to aid outstanding but financially needy landscape architecture students who would not otherwise have an opportunity to continue a professional degree, to increase interest and participation in the study of landscape architecture by economically disadvantaged and under-represented populations, and to enrich the profession of landscape architecture through a more diverse population.
