Cal Poly Team Wins Honorable Mention at Urban Planning Competition
SAN LUIS OBISPO - A team of five Cal Poly graduate students recently received one of seven "Honorable Mentions" in the Urban Land Institute/Gerald D. Hines urban design competition. This year's project site was in St. Louis , Mo.
Eighty-one teams from across the United States and Canada competed to produce a master plan for a $400 million multi-purpose project around the Saint Louis University campus.
Each team assumed the role of master developer for the 103 acre site, which included a major metrolink rail station.
Cal Poly's entry, "Vision Grand: A Village in the City," included residential, mixed-use, commercial space, and office developments. The design also allowed for the incorporation of the emerging biotechnology industry.
Team members included Robert Betts, Rusty Case, Kin Lam, Craig Minus, and Brian Soland.
The Cal Poly's submittal can be viewed at www.udcompetition.uli.org/ For more information, contact team member Craig Minus at minusc@yahoo.com .
