Cal Poly Trombone Choir and Brass Choir to Play Christmas Concert Dec. 1
at Farmers' Market

SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Cal Poly's Trombone Choir and Brass Choir will bring some early Christmas cheer to downtown San Luis Obispo with a free Christmas performance during Farmers' Market on Dec. 1.

The Trombone Choir, directed by Music Department faculty member Roy Main, and the Brass Choir, directed by Music Department faculty member Keith Snell will perform more than 20 Christmas songs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the corner of Higuera and Chorro streets.

The choir will perform such classics as "Jingle Bells," "Silent Night," "Santa Claus is Coming To Town," "O Come All Ye Faithful," "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," "Deck The Halls," "Greensleeves" and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen."

The ensembles are made up of Cal Poly students from a variety of majors.

Trombone Choir director Main teaches trombone, euphonium and tuba at Cal Poly. Main has performed at all of the major television and film studios and has played with many orchestras and bands including Nelson Riddle, Henry Mancini, Michel Legrand, Bill Conti, Les Brown and Harry James. His motion picture, television and recording credits include performances on productions for every major studio in Hollywood with many great artists namely Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, Bob Hope and Tony Bennett.

Brass Choir director Snell teaches trumpet at Cal Poly and Cuesta College . He also serves as artistic director for the California Brass Ensemble based in Los Angeles and is a freelance musician and conductor for television and motion picture productions. He has performed with Isaac Stern, Itzhak Perlman, Yehudi Menuhin and Aaron Copland.
