The
morning started with the Poly Royal Parade on Campus, including
the Marching Band in casual attire

The Cal
Poly
Lion Dance team,
part of the
Cal Poly
Chinese Student Association,
is another parade favorite
In Poly
Canyon, (below)
student teams
from across the U.S.
and Canada
built temporary shelters
in the annual
Design Village
competition sponsored by
the College of Architecture
and Environmental Design.
This year,
the dwellings
were designed
as temporary shelters
for victims of natural catastrophes.
Engineering students
were busy with
the annual
RoboRodentia
competition.
Students
designed and manufactured their own miniature robots.

At the
Horse Unit,
visitors
could see
-- and pet --
new colts
like this one,
relaxing in the sun.

In fact,
plenty of Cal Poly's
animal friends
participated
in Open House 2005.

Many
of Cal Poly's
400 student clubs
participated,
including
the Cal Poly
Salsa Club (left)
Of course,
what Open House
would be complete
without
the traditional
Tractor Pull?
(below)

Or without
the annual
Poly Royal Rodeo,
opened every year
with a rousing ride
by the Cal Poly Rodeo Queen?
This
year, The Cal Poly
Rodeo Team members
competed against seven other
West Coast Region teams
for points to qualify
for the College
National Finals Rodeo.
Other college teams competing
were Lassen College;
Feather River College;
University of Nevada, Las Vegas;
Western Nevada College;
California State Fresno;
West Hills College
and Cuesta College.
