Golden Key Society Awards Scholarships
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- The Cal Poly chapter of Golden Key International Honour Society awarded two $500 scholarships to new members Mariam Khan, a junior business major, and Daniel Seguin, a senior journalism major, During a May 19 ceremony that also recognized sophomore academic achievement.
The current Executive Student Board selected Khan, of San Luis Obispo, and Seguin, of Ventura, based on criteria including their community service event proposals for the coming year. Khan and Seguin also plan to serve as officers for the upcoming academic year.
Some 161 sophomores with grade point averages above 3.7 were invited to the ceremony to recognize their excellence and encourage involvement in community service, according to Val Barboza, club advisor.
