Cal Poly Choral Program To Present ‘A Spring Cabaret’ May 28
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- The Cal Poly Choral Program will present A Spring Cabaret benefit concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 28, in the Alex and Faye Spanos Theatre on campus.
The program will include Cal Poly's a cappella ensembles, including the barbershop quartets Here Comes Treble and Men-So Forte.
Although this will be the final Cal Poly performance of both Men-So Forte and Here Comes Treble, the event will mark the debut performance of Cal Poly's new men's barbershop group, Wired-4-Sound.
Men-So Forte was named a finalist in the 2004 International Barbershop Harmony Society International Collegiate competition. They will compete again this year at the International Barbershop convention in Salt Lake City in July. The members are seeking donations to help offset their travel expenses. The group can be contacted through their Web page at www.harmonize.com/mensoforte.
The vocal ensemble Take It SLO will also perform, with plans to sing a variety of arrangements of songs, including some by Prince, Bonnie Raitt, Green Day and Jamiroquai.
The Spring Cabaret performance is a fund-raiser for the Cal Poly choirs. Tickets to the concert are $10 and can be bought at the Performing Arts Ticket Office 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
A Spring Cabaret is sponsored by Cal Poly’s Music Department, College of Liberal Arts and Instructionally Related Activities program. For more information about the concert, call the Music Department at 756-2406.
