Cal Poly Brass Ensembles to Perform May 20
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- The Cal Poly Brass Ensembles will present an evening of chamber music at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 20, at St. Timothy's Church in Morro Bay.
The members of the ensembles include Cal Poly students from a variety of majors and are directed by the Music Department's trumpet instructor, Keith Snell.
The evening program will feature compositions by Giovanni Gabrieli, Francois Poulenc and J. S. Bach, performed by brass musicians in groups ranging from three to 20.
Snell worked for 35 years in the music industry in Los Angeles as a conductor, trumpet player, composer and arranger. His credits include performances for both television and motion picture recordings. He also served on the faculty at Cal State Northridge and Cal State Los Angeles. From 1978 to 1999 he served as artistic director of the internationally renowned California Brass Ensemble.
St. Timothy's Church is at 962 Piney Way, Morro Bay. Tickets to the concert are $5 for students and $8 for the public. They may be purchased at the door the night of the concert.
