Cal Poly Accounting Students Offer Free Tax Help Through March 12

SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Cal Poly accounting students will offer free tax preparation of basic federal and state tax returns Saturdays through March 12 as part of the Orfalea College of Business's annual Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.

Students will be offering free tax help from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m Saturdays at the Orfalea College of Business building, in the third floor computer lab. The service is available to taxpayers with gross income under $35,000. Reservations are not necessary, but participants are asked to arrive no later than 2 p.m.

Cal Poly accounting students have been trained to prepare or review tax returns, and answer questions. The students are supervised by volunteer local certified tax practitioners, who will review all returns prepared by the students.

Bring a copy of last year's return, if possible, and 2004 tax documents including the form booklets.
