Celebrated Playwright To Lead Free Workshop
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Critically acclaimed playwright Tom Jacobson will lead a free workshop, titled "By Hook or By Crook: Getting Your Play Produced in the Real World," from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, in Room 212 of the Davidson Music Center at Cal Poly.
Jacobson, who earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in playwriting from UCLA, has written more than 25 plays. More than 45 productions of his works have been staged.
His most recent work, “Sperm,” was awarded a Critic's Choice Award from the Los Angeles Times. The New York Daily News included his play “Eat the Runt” among the five top off-Broadway plays in 2001.
Jacobson also is the author of “Cyberqueer,” “Tainted Blood,” “Breath of God” and “Trust.” He has won seven Velley Theatre Awards and has been nominated for an L.A. Weekly award.
The workshop is open to the public. Lunch is not provided; participants will have a lunch break from noon to 1 p.m.
The workshop is sponsored by FANS (Friends and Alumni Network of Supporters of the Cal Poly Theatre Program.)
