National Expert Presents Free Lecture at
Cal Poly
on ‘Hydrogen Economy’ April 6
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Maxine Savitz of the Washington Advisory Group will speak at Cal Poly on Wednesday, April 6, in a free lecture on developing hydrogen fuels.
Savitz will speak from 10-11 a.m. in the Advanced Technology Laboratory on campus (Building 007) as part of the College of Engineering’s Distinguished Lecture Series. Her lecture is sponsored by the university’s Center for Sustainability in Engineering, and is titled, “A Hydrogen Economy: Opportunities, Cost, Barriers and Research and Development Needs.”
Savitz is currently a principal at the Washington Advisory Group. She is the former deputy assistant secretary for conservation, U.S. Department of Energy. She received the Outstanding Service Medal from the DOE in 1981.
She is also a member of the National Academy of Engineering and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. She received her B.A. in chemistry from Bryn Mawr College and her doctorate in organic chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
