Post 9/11 German-American Relations To Be Topic of Oct. 21 Colloquium at Cal Poly

SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Federal Republic of Germany’s Consul General, Dr. Hans J. Wendler, will talk about post-9/11 German-American relations on Thursday, Oct. 21, at Cal Poly.

The free, public forum will begin at 11:10 a.m. in Philips Hall of the Performing Arts Center’s Christopher Cohan Center.

Wendler has held the title of Los Angeles Consul General since 2001 and has more than 30 years of diplomatic service to Germany, including postings to Dublin, Paris, Tel Aviv and Rome.

“The colloquium is an important opportunity for the Cal Poly and San Luis Obispo communities to hear the views of a foreign-service diplomat from one of our country’s key European allies,” said College of Liberal Arts Interim Dean Linda H. Halisky. “The talk should be of special interest in light of the upcoming presidential elections and the global war on terrorism.”

The Modern Languages and Literatures Department and the College of Liberal Arts are sponsoring the event. For more information about the colloquium, call the College of Liberal Arts College Relations Office at (805) 756-1216.
