Cal Poly Department Receives National Award

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Cal Poly’s Contract & Procurement Services Department
has received national recognition for its professionalism.

The department has received the Ninth Annual Achievement of Excellence
in Procurement Award. The award is designed to recognize excellence,
innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and
leadership.

“Our mission is to provide to the campus community, timely,
customer-oriented contract and purchasing services within established
policies in the most cost-effective, efficient and ethical manner,”
explained department Director Matthew Roberts. “We’re honored to be
recognized by our peers for the way we carry out our mission.”

Cal Poly Vice President for Administration and Finance Larry Kelley
commended the department on receiving the award. "The people in
Contracts and Procurement are dedicated to serving Cal Poly, and they
demonstrate that daily. I value their contributions, and we are always
pleased to see the support staff at Cal Poly get such positive
recognition from their fellow professionals."

The award comes from the National Purchasing Institute and is
co-sponsored by the California Association of Public Purchasing
Officers, Florida Association of Public Purchasing Officers, the
Institute of Supply Management, and the National Institute of
