Cal Poly Homecoming 2004 Schedule

Homecoming Week is Monday-Saturday, Oct. 11-16.
• Homecoming 2004: Theme "How the Great West Was Won"
• Factoid: Homecoming has been a tradition at Cal Poly since 1906

EVENTS/Photo Opportunities:

MONDAY, Oct. 11
• 9-10 a.m., University Union Plaza: Banner Hanging. Student teams
competing for points will hang their Homecoming banners. Banners will be
judged for artistry and best conveyance of Homecoming theme: "How the
Great West Was Won."
• 7-9 p.m., Chumash Auditorium: Mock Rock. Watch teams lip-synch and
gyrate their way through musical performances in costume.

TUESDAY, Oct. 12
• 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Mott Lawn: Laugh Olympics. Teams will compete in
unusual events, like the Mount Your Mackerel contest (involving
piggyback teams slapping each other with fish) and more.

WEDNESDAY, Oct. 13
• 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Mott Lawn: Blood Drive. Tri-Counties Blood Bank teams
with Cal Poly’s Homecoming for an on-campus blood drive. Students earn
points for their organizations by giving a donation.

THURSDAY, Oct. 14
• 11 a.m., UU Plaza: UU Spirit Hour. The top Mock Rock team will perform
again, and the Homecoming Court will be on hand, along with members of
the Mustang football team and dance and cheer squad.

FRIDAY, Oct. 15
• 6 p.m., Chumash Auditorium: Honored Alumni Awards Banquet.
• 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Rec Sports Fields (by Baggett Stadium): Powder Puff
Game. Check out the great Powder Puff (male) cheerleading squad as the
tough (female) football teams face off.

SATURDAY, Oct. 16: Homecoming & Parents' Day
• 10-11 a.m., Higuera Street, SLO: Homecoming Parade. Rain or shine, the
Homecoming Court will parade through downtown along with student floats
and Honored Alumni. This is a popular annual community event.
• 1-4 p.m., Business Building Lawn: Pre-game tailgate barbecue and wine
tasting, hosted by Cal Poly Athletics, the Cal Poly Alumni Association,
and ASI. A big alumni event also open to the community.
• 4 p.m., Mustang Stadium: Homecoming Game. Cal Poly vs. Texas State.
Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at halftime, and the 2004
Honored Alumni will be introduced.
