Cal Poly’s Homecoming Offers Events for Community Oct. 16
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Cal Poly’s Homecoming celebration, “Homecoming 2004: How the Great West Was Won,” offers events for students, alumni and the community.
The festivities include the annual Homecoming Parade down Higuera Street in downtown San Luis Obispo, beginning at 10 a.m. Oct. 16 at Higuera and Morro streets. The parade features floats, music, the 2004 Honored Alumni and the Cal Poly Homecoming Court.
After the parade, Cal Poly will hold its annual Mustang Corral Tailgate Barbecue. The barbeque, open to the public, will run from 1 to 4 p.m. on the lawn in front of the Business Building, near Mustang Stadium. The menu will feature a traditional Santa Maria-style tri-tip barbecue with all the fixings.
In addition, a wine tasting will be held for those over 21, with Central Coast wineries pouring some of their most popular wines
Barbecue and wine tasting tickets must be purchased separately and are sold on a first-come basis. Tickets sell out quickly. They can be bought online in advance at www.homecoming.calpoly.edu. If not sold out in advance, tickets will be available at the event.
Kickoff time for the Homecoming game is 4 p.m. in Mustang Stadium. The Cal Poly Mustangs will face the Texas State Bobcats. The halftime show will feature a performance by the Mustang Band and cheerleaders, recognition of this year’s Honored Alumni award recipients, and the presentation of this year’s Homecoming Court and Homecoming king and queen.
