‘Make a Difference Day’ Coming to San Luis Obispo October 23

SAN LUIS OBISPO -- In honor of the National Day of Service, Cal Poly
Student Community Services Center and United Way of San Luis Obispo have
teamed up to once again host “Make a Difference Day,” Saturday, October
23.

Cal Poly student Emily Becker is this year's campus chair for the event.
“Make a Difference Day is a great way for all of us to come together –
students and longtime city residents – for the good of the community,”
Becker said. “Last year approximately 500 students participated -- we
hope to see the same turnout this year."

About 40 San Luis Obispo non-profit organizations, including Woods
Humane Society, Transitions Mental Health, Food Bank, and City Parks and
Recreation have identified sites around the city for participants to
volunteer.

Students and other volunteers will register and be assigned a site and
volunteer project from 8:30 to 9:30 at the Ludwick Center at the corner
of Mill and Santa Rosa streets in San Luis Obispo. Students and
volunteers will then work at their sites from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For details, contact students Becker or Dan Pronsilino at Cal Poly’s
Student Community Services Office at (805) 756-5338.
