Bring the Family to 'Cirque Dreams' Nov. 29 at the PAC
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- In the spirit of the highly successful “Cirque Ingenieux” comes the producer's latest extravaganza, “Cirque Dreams,” live at the Cohan Center on Monday, November 29, at a special curtain time of 7 p.m.
The Los Angeles Times calls “Cirque Dreams” “a sumptuous big top spectacle turned stage show” and the Washington Post praises it as “a soaring flight of fantasy.”
“Mesmerizing and illuminating,” raves the Chicago Tribune, while the Miami Herald dubs it, “A combination of fantasy circus and Broadway dream.”
Cal Poly Arts presents “Cirque Dreams,” a circus fantasy of strength, spectacle, and wonder for the entire family.
Created by Artistic Director Neil Goldberg, “Cirque Dreams” is an exhilarating 90-minute, two-act performance that delivers an outsized, larger-than-life burst of color, costumes and amazing performance artistry.
Goldberg’s signature style of dynamic acrobatics, costuming, choreography and music are enhanced with striking visual and ultra violet effects.
“Cirque Dreams” features an international cast comprised of inventive acrobats, loose-limbed contortionists, stunning chiffon-draped aerialists, and sculpted men of strength.
An aerial ballet over the audience, an interactive music symphony, and four-legged stilt creatures appearing around the theater are just some of the performance highlights to expect.
Other highlights might include:
- A trio of Canadian trapeze artists spin, jump and twist together while hanging upside down 20 feet in the air
- Three Mongolian contortionists who literally tie themselves in knots
- A Russian aerialist who flies on a skin of chiffon in a dramatic presentation
- Muscle men from Russia defying gravity by balancing on each other
Tickets for the performance range from $36 - $48, with student discounts available, and may be purchased at the Performing Arts Ticket Office, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
