Professor Chris Carr Named Associate Dean
of Cal Poly's Orfalea College of Business

SAN LUIS OBISPO - Business Law Professor Chris Carr has been appointed to the position of associate dean in Cal Poly's Orfalea College of Business.

"In his new role, Professor Carr will provide leadership for graduate programs in business and industrial technology, as well as championing faculty development initiatives in the college," said OCOB Dean Dave Christy in announcing the appointment.

Carr joined the OCOB in 1995 as a part-time lecturer in business law. He subsequently accepted a full-time appointment, advancing to associate professor in 1998 and full professor in 2004. A 1987 graduate of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Carr went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree with honors from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1990. In 1998 he earned an M.A. in Political Science from UCLA. Carr has practiced law as an attorney with The Jencks Law Group in Arroyo Grande and Sinsheimer, Schiebelhut & Baggett in San Luis Obispo.

Dean Christy said that Carr is the right person to provide leadership in graduate programs and a variety of new initiatives in research and program improvement coming up at OCOB.

"Chris Carr understands what we need to do to move forward in providing effective learning opportunities for faculty and graduate students," said Christy. "This continual investment in our faculty is essential to meeting our goal of excellence in business education."

Carr's appointment is effective immediately.
