Arts Awards Announced at Cal Poly

SAN LUIS OBISPO, California – The Cal Poly Arts Board of Directors
recently announced their 2003/2004 Student Arts Awards, recognizing
students who have maintained high levels of achievement and service in
the arts while attending Cal Poly.

The winners will receive a framed embossed award created by University
Arts & Design Dept. professor Crissa Hewitt, a cash award, and their
names engraved on the Arts Award plaque displayed at the Performing Arts
Center.

Applied Art & Design major Sabiha Basrai was granted the Service in the
Arts award. Kate Asche, an English major with a minor in Music,
received the Achievement in the Arts award.

Both Asche and Basrai will receive their awards at the College of
Liberal Arts End-of-the-Year Reception, which will be held on Thursday,
June 3 at the Dallidet Adobe from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.

Cal Poly students Katie Isaacs, Lyndsay Menasco, and Robert Villanueva
will receive Student Arts Service commendation certificates for their
outstanding work on “Byzantium,” Cal Poly's literary journal.

Student Arts Service commendations will be presented at each student’s
respective college year-end functions.
