Cal Poly Continuing Education to Offer
Extensive Summer Schedule of Non-Credit Courses

SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Cal Poly Continuing Education announced today it will
move forward with its customary summer offerings of off-campus credit and on-
campus non-credit courses in language, archaeology, professional development
and personal enrichment.

In addition, the program will continue to develop courses and services for non-matriculated students and members of the larger community throughout the summer. Continuing Education will also be providing members of the community access to a limited number of the Cal Poly classes running this summer through the Open University program.

“Our core continuing education courses will be offered as usual. It was only
our Summer Special Session courses that were canceled,” stated Dennis “Skip”
Parks, Dean of Cal Poly Continuing Education.

“The decision to not offer the expanded summer special session is for summer 2004 only, and does not impact other programs and services we offer. We remain committed to providing
lifelong learning opportunities open to both community members and non-
matriculated Cal Poly students,” Parks said.

Continuing Education still has several off-campus Cal Poly credit summer
programs open to both Cal Poly students and the general public. These include
intensive Spanish language programs in Spain and Mexico, along with an
archeological field school program at Mission San Antonio. Continuing
Education’s regular non-credit spring courses in arts and humanities, language
studies, wine appreciation, paralegal studies, professional development and
personal enrichment are currently open for enrollment. The non-credit summer
courses will be open for enrollment starting in May.
