Campus Traffic Rerouted June 12 for Spring Commencement
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Cal Poly expects more than 15,000 guests to arrive for commencement ceremonies on campus Saturday, June 12th, and auto traffic will be redirected on parts of campus as a result.
"Parking will be extremely limited and the University Police Department would like to remind all students, faculty, and staff that alternative transportation would be the best choice during commencement," said University Police Sgt. Lori Hashim.
The University Police Department will have additional staffing deployed all day in order to help direct traffic flow and parking throughout campus. However, the sheer volume of traffic may mean long delays and impacted parking.
Traffic measures on campus June 12 include:
• The California Blvd (C-4 Lot) will be reserved for disabled parking.
This lot will be closed to parking from 5 p.m. Friday, June 11 until 5
p.m. Saturday, June 12.
• North Perimeter will not be accessible from California Blvd. (C-4
Lot) on June 12th between 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• South Perimeter will be one way eastbound from Cuesta Avenue to
Grand Avenue.
• There will be limited public parking on the California side of
campus. Visitors are encouraged to use Highland Drive to access the “H”
lots or Grand Avenue to access the “G” lots and parking structure.
• A shuttle service will be provided from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The
shuttles will run on Via Carta from the Recreation Center to the corner
of Highland Dr. and Via Carta. Via Carta will be one-way only.
• Bus transportation will not operate on campus
June 12.
Alternate means of transportation can consist of car-pooling, van pooling, walking or biking to campus.
"We would like to thank you in advance for your assistance and cooperation during this busy event on campus," Hashim said. For more details, please contact the University Police Department at (805) 756-6675.
